靉嘔 AY-O (1931-PRESENT)
Renowned for his vibrant paintings, silkscreens, and installations that immerse audiences in floods of kaleidoscopic colour and spectral rainbow hues, Ay-O's art is a symphony for the senses. Influenced by an artistic freedom championed by 瑛九 Ei-Q’s (1911-1960) Demokrato Artist Association and 久保貞次郎 Sadajiro Kubo's (1909-1996) Society for Creative Art Education early in his career, Ay-O's boundless experimentation and imagination saw him become a key member of George Maciunas’ avant-garde Fluxus movement.
Collaborating in theatrical performances alongside icons Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, and Claes Oldenburg, Ay-O, also known as the "Rainbow Man", continues to paint today & has carved a multicoloured universe that is continuing to garner increasing international acclaim. His works are housed in collections worldwide, including The British Museum, The Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), and the Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art.
