Kunio Kaneko graduated from Musashino University of Fine Arts and studied under celebrated artists 星襄一 Joichi Hoshi (1913-1979) and 笹島喜平 Sasajima Kihei (1906-1993). Calmingly capturing quintessential Japanese motif - themes such as koi, kimono, tabi, geta, koinobori, & Mt Fuji - whilst enriching his prints with exquisite gold and silver leaf; Kunio Kaneko is dedicated to preserving mokuhanga and inviting viewers to connect with its enduring, human touch.

An esteemed member of the 日本版画会 Japan Print Association, Kunio Kaneko’s prints reflect his passion for traditional techniques while incorporating modern themes. Emphasising the handcrafted nature of mokuhanga, Kaneko’s work resonates with love, warmth, & a spirit of friendliness and positivity. Exhibited widely across Japan, South Korea, and the USA, Kunio Kaneko remains a long-standing participant at the College Women’s Association of Japan (CWAJ) annual print shows, where he continues to engage new audiences with his accessible & vibrant prints.
