A comical expression & exploration of the universal commonalities to life & existential love shared between man and nature through playful animal imagery, black & white collage, & juxtaposing modern motifs from 1960’s/70’s society. Yayanagi’s earliest significant collection of work following his return to Japan in the late 1960’s & shift to silkscreen Pop-Uki style. A predecessor to future iconic collections such as Tale of Genji 源氏物語, The Kojiki 古事記, and further picture poem series’: The Earth...and Now 地球…そして今は, Men & Women 男と女, & The Flying Pencils 飛んだえんぴつ .

Signed & Dated: Signed and dated in pencil, 1972.
Medium: Silkscreen.
Paper Size: Approx H: 79.5cm x W: 55.00cm.
Condition: Near mint. A wonderful original piece. Intensity of colour remains, no foxing, marks, or deterioration to paper. Well stored over the years. Please refer to photos / Contact for any further questions & condition report.
Notes: One can spend a great deal of time exploring & deliberating the depths of this wonderful piece. Central to the image, Yayanagi places the planet & an expanse of space dedicated to his signature zebra/swirl form. To the surrounding, Yayanagi reminds of the planet’s diverse mammalian, amphibian, & bird life - together with segmentation of abstract, sensual/erotic, human forms. Like all of Yayanagi’s work: puzzling, but certainly more structured in this composition atleast. Fabulous.
