Notes: An age-old folk dance performed in Iwate prefecture for over one-thousand years. Every August, hundreds of dancers lead three days of folk festivities in Kitakami city - “The Devil’s/Demon Sword Dance (Oni-Kenbai)” being the main event of the Michinoku Geino Festival. In Okuyama’s print we can immediately make out the leader of the dance (“Ichikembai”) wearing the white mask. *(Pencil Signed) - Of Okuyama’s rarer, larger sized, pencil signed edition.
