Every August, hundreds of dancers lead three days of folk festivities in Kitakami city - “The Devil’s/Demon Sword Dance (Oni-Kenbai)” being the main event of the Michinoku Geino Festival. In Okuyama’s print we can immediately make out the leader of the dance (“Ichikembai”) wearing the white mask.
