Notes: A wonderful piece by Gihachiro Okuyama capturing Hobikibune - traditional fishing boats which operated on Lake Kasumigaura, Ibaraki prefecture, during the 19th Century before the emergence of modern trawling vessels. Their huge 9m tall x 16m in length white sails are still seen on Lake Kasumigaura (Japan’s second largest lake (Lake Biwa #1)) today, but typically in manner which celebrates their cultural importance & tourism for the region.
