Condition: A lovely piece. Bright crisp colour, with no notable marks/blemishes. Small pinhole foxing spot to sky. Paper intact, subtle browning to margin where previously framed. Please refer to photos. Contact for any further questions/photos/& condition report.
Notes: A fabulous piece entitled “Hometown Spring” which Sekiguchi published in 1986 alongside a counterpart seasonal design - “Hometown Autumn”. Here we see the beautiful yellow bloom of the 菜の花 nanohana flower afore children playfully foraging in the fields beyond. The nanohana flower is particularly poignant & often present in Sekiguchi’s works - for it is both a symbolic reminder for the arrival of spring, & said to evoke nostalgic memories of childhood in many. The beloved Japanese children’s song 朧月夜 "Oborozukiyo" is often sung for its poetic & nostalgic charm toward spring & the nanohana flower.
