Notes: A fabulous piece by Fumio Kitaoka depicting Taisho Pond (大正池) afore Mt. Yake (焼岳) “Yake-dake”)) - the most active of all volcanoes in the Hida Mountains (飛騨山脈) which stretches Nagano, Toyama, and Gifu prefectures. Beautifully capturing the lake; Taisho Pond was formed from the eruption of Mt. Yake in 1915 which dammed the nearby Azusa River (梓川). The decayed, withered trees are still seen emerging from the water - becoming one of the most popular scenic & hiking spots within the Kamikōchi (上高地) valley.
